1] About the Hackathon

The International Hackathon on Cyber Laws, Governance, and Privacy 2026 brings together legal minds, technologists, policymakers, and innovators to address the growing challenges of cybersecurity, data protection, and digital governance.
As digital transformation accelerates, issues related to privacy breaches, data misuse, cybercrime, and AI regulation have become critical. This hackathon aims to develop actionable solutions, tools, and policy frameworks that ensure secure and ethical digital ecosystems worldwide.
Participants will explore intersections of law, technology, and human rights—building prototypes, governance models, or compliance frameworks that uphold trust, transparency, and accountability in cyberspace.

2] Problem Statements / Tracks

Track 1: Data Privacy and Consent Management

Problem: Individuals often have limited control over how their personal data is collected, shared, and used by organizations.
Expected Solution: Develop a transparent consent management system or privacy dashboard enabling users to track, control, and revoke permissions across platforms.

Track 2: Cybercrime Investigation and Digital Forensics

Problem: Law enforcement faces challenges in tracing, collecting, and preserving digital evidence in cybercrime cases.
Expected Solution: Create a secure digital forensics toolkit or cloud-based chain-of-custody system for real-time evidence management.

Track 3: AI Ethics and Algorithmic Governance

Problem: Increasing reliance on AI systems raises issues of bias, accountability, and explainability.
Expected Solution: Propose a governance framework or compliance monitoring tool ensuring AI models adhere to global ethical and legal standards.

Track 4: Cross-Border Data Transfer Regulations

Problem: Global companies struggle with inconsistent data protection laws (GDPR, DPDP Act, etc.) across jurisdictions.
Expected Solution: Design a compliance solution or policy harmonization framework for seamless international data exchange.

Track 5: Cybersecurity Policy for Critical Infrastructure

Problem: Critical infrastructures like power grids, health systems, and banking networks are vulnerable to cyberattacks.
Expected Solution: Build a cybersecurity policy model or early-warning threat detection framework specific to national critical infrastructure protection.

Track 6: Digital Identity and Authentication

Problem: Weak or duplicated digital identities compromise user verification and national security.
Expected Solution: Develop a secure, blockchain-based digital identity solution with built-in privacy preservation mechanisms.

Track 7: Cyberbullying, Misinformation, and Digital Ethics

Problem: Online harassment and misinformation threaten user safety and democratic integrity.
Expected Solution: Propose a platform or algorithmic system to detect, report, and mitigate cyberbullying or fake news propagation.

Track 8: Cyber Law Awareness and Compliance Education

Problem: Lack of awareness about data protection and cyber laws among individuals and SMEs leads to frequent violations.
Expected Solution: Build an AI-driven legal chatbot or gamified e-learning platform to educate users on cyber law compliance.

Track 9: Governance of Emerging Technologies (IoT, Metaverse, Quantum)

Problem: Current legal systems are unprepared to govern fast-evolving technologies like IoT and Metaverse environments.
Expected Solution: Develop a policy whitepaper or governance prototype addressing data ownership, liability, and privacy challenges in emerging tech ecosystems.

Track 10: Student Innovation Challenge

Theme: Individual participants can submit any innovative idea or project aligned with cyber laws, digital ethics, or privacy protection that contributes to a safer digital future.
