International Hackathon on Dental, Ophthalmology, and ENT Research

πŸ“… June 27–29, 2026 | Mode: Online
Organized by: Mastering Up
Convenor: Ms. Suguna B – Co-Founder & CBO, Mastering Up

🧠 1] About the Hackathon

The International Hackathon on Dental, Ophthalmology, and ENT Research 2026 aims to foster interdisciplinary innovation by bringing together students, researchers, clinicians, and technologists to solve critical healthcare challenges related to oral health, eye care, and ear-nose-throat medicine.
The event encourages the development of AI-driven diagnostic tools, telemedicine solutions, smart prosthetics, surgical aids, and preventive healthcare technologies that can transform patient outcomes and improve accessibility.

Participants will engage in three days of innovation, collaboration, and problem-solving to develop solutions that integrate medicine, biotechnology, and digital health technology for global impact.

πŸ” 2] Problem Statements / Tracks

1. Early Detection of Oral Cancer Using AI

Problem: Late diagnosis of oral cancer leads to poor survival rates in many regions.
Expected Solution: Develop an AI-based image analysis tool or mobile app capable of detecting early oral lesions through photographic data and pattern recognition.

2. Smart Dental Imaging and Caries Detection

Problem: Manual examination of dental X-rays often misses early caries or bone loss.
Expected Solution: Build a machine learning tool that automatically detects caries, bone density loss, or abnormalities from dental radiographs and intraoral scans.

3. Affordable Hearing Screening for Rural Populations

Problem: Many developing regions lack accessible hearing assessment tools.
Expected Solution: Design a portable, smartphone-based audiometry device or application for basic hearing screening and early diagnosis of hearing loss.

4. AI in Retinal Disease Diagnosis

Problem: Diabetic retinopathy and macular degeneration remain underdiagnosed due to limited screening facilities.
Expected Solution: Develop an AI platform that processes fundus images for automated diagnosis of common retinal diseases, integrating with teleophthalmology networks.

5. Remote ENT Consultation Platform

Problem: ENT specialists are often unavailable in rural or remote settings.
Expected Solution: Create a telemedicine application that uses integrated sensors or image/video capture to assist ENT specialists in remote diagnosis and consultations.

6. 3D-Printed Prosthetics for Craniofacial Reconstruction

Problem: Traditional prosthetic fabrication is expensive and time-consuming.
Expected Solution: Innovate low-cost 3D-printing solutions for custom craniofacial or dental prosthetics, using patient imaging data for precision fitting.

7. Early Screening for Glaucoma and Cataracts

Problem: Millions suffer preventable vision loss due to lack of regular eye checkups.
Expected Solution: Build a portable vision testing device or app that measures intraocular pressure, visual field, or lens opacity for early detection.

8. Smart Oral Hygiene Monitoring System

Problem: Patients struggle to maintain proper oral hygiene and track habits.
Expected Solution: Develop a smart toothbrush or IoT-enabled device that monitors brushing habits and provides real-time feedback through a mobile application.

9. Real-time Voice and Speech Disorder Detection

Problem: Speech pathologies and ENT-related voice disorders are often diagnosed late.
Expected Solution: Create a machine-learning-powered speech analysis system to detect and track vocal cord issues, recommending therapy or ENT consultation.

10. Individual Innovation Track – β€œOpen Healthcare Challenge”

Participants can propose their own innovative idea addressing any major issue in Dental, Ophthalmology, or ENT Research, focusing on diagnostic, therapeutic, or technological advancements.
