The course covers the composition and behavior of propellants, primers, bullets, and cartridge cases, along with gunshot residue (GSR) formation and detection. Participants will learn advanced analytical techniques such as scanning electron microscopy (SEM) with energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS), and chromatography for residue characterization. Emphasis is placed on evidence collection, contamination prevention, chain-of-custody maintenance, and interpretation of results for legal proceedings.
