Forensic Chemistry in Ink and Document Examination – Training Services provides participants with expertise in the chemical and physical analysis of inks, papers, and printed materials for forensic investigations. The course covers the composition of inks, including dyes, pigments, and solvents, as well as the chemical treatments used in different writing instruments and printers. Participants will learn analytical methods such as thin-layer chromatography (TLC), high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), infrared and Raman spectroscopy, and microspectrophotometry for ink characterization and comparison. Emphasis is placed on detecting alterations, forgeries, and counterfeit documents, along with paper analysis and age estimation techniques. Case studies highlight real-world applications in fraud detection, questioned document analysis, and legal investigations.
