Forensic Chemistry of Glass and Fracture Analysis – Training Services provides participants with in-depth knowledge of the chemical and physical properties of glass as forensic evidence. The course covers the classification of glass types, elemental composition, and methods for distinguishing between samples using refractive index measurements, density analysis, and advanced techniques such as inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). Participants will also study fracture patterns, impact direction, and sequence determination to reconstruct events in criminal cases. Emphasis is placed on proper collection, preservation, and comparison of glass fragments to establish links between suspects, victims, and crime scenes. Case studies illustrate the role of glass and fracture analysis in solving crimes such as burglaries, shootings, and accidents.
