Forensic Chemistry of Plastics and Polymers – Training Services provides specialized training on the chemical and physical analysis of plastics and polymeric materials in forensic investigations. The course covers the composition, types, and properties of polymers, including thermoplastics, thermosets, and composites, as well as additives, fillers, and plasticizers. Participants will learn analytical techniques such as Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), Raman spectroscopy, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), and chromatography for material identification and comparison. Emphasis is placed on evidence collection, contamination prevention, and linking polymer samples to sources or crime scenes.
